About Us
|
Sponsored by members of the Pittsburgh Rotary Club, meetings were held in
1944 with East Liberty business owners interested in establishing a Rotary Club. On April 10, 1945, a charter night dinner was held at the Webster Hall Hotel. All 28 charter members attended and the club was formally inaugurated. During the period of the 1950's and 1960's, the overall economic landscape in East Liberty was vibrant and flourishing. Club membership reached 77, with most members residing in the immediate area.
From that period through the early 1990's, waning economic conditions and the move away from the area by many members created challenges. However, the Pittsburgh East Rotary Club remained intact. Over the past ten years, many new members have joined and the Club boasts a unique vitality rooted in diversity and commitment to the ideals of Rotary---community, international and vocational service.
